One Year Old
It’s April 19, 2002 and it’s Patsy Emma’s first birthday. She’s been laughing but now she is about to cry. She has a bucket on her head and she wants to take it off. She has some “hard luck” cake and some ice cream. The ice cream came in the bucket. But before they put the ice cream in it, it also had dirt in it. Now it has chocolate ice cream from Mayfield’s Dairy. The spoon she has isn’t doing much good. She has chocolate on her mouth and on her hands (just two of them!). She has really made a mess, and the place smells like chocolate.
Her parents lit the candle and then she blew it out – that was before she made the mess. She is wishing for toys, and she is also wishing someone would take the bucket off her head. Her biggest wish is for a sibling!
Momma has been feeding her and she also took the picture. Now Momma is covered with chocolate too. All the kids that are there are also covered with chocolate. There are three of them at the party. It’s a terrible mess! The mess is going to have to be cleaned up and nobody is sure who will do it. They will probably hire someone to come in and clean. Maybe it will be Staples.
When they are done with their ice cream, Patsy Emma is going to get a bath. Then she’s going to go outside to get away from the other kids and play with her new toys. She will get dirty all over again and then have to have another bath!
