The use of creative story in multiple disciplines presents an interactive and creative opportunity for participants to contribute to the writing of a story. Consider the following:
Dementia/Alzheimer’s and Senior Healthcare: Creative story has proven to delay the progress of dementia.
The process replaces the pressure to remember with the freedom to imagine, while encouraging communication with fellow residents, caregivers and family members. Although we aren't therapists, we have been told that this process is "cognitive and behavioral therapy at its finest".
Youth Education Enhancement: Teaching the concepts of the oral tradition of story assists students to develop skills for creative writing, public speaking, personal engagement, and a better understanding of self and others. We have taught students, some with special needs, to create, write, illustrate, tell, and even publish their own books.
Inter-generational Activities: Creative story can be used as an activity for groups of any age, but can be particularly effective for inter-generational programs in churches and organizations such as Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs, YMCA or Scouting programs.
Freedom and Restoration of Exploited Women: Addressing the global fight against human exploitation and offering whole life alternatives to women in prostitution. One of the many applications of creative story is currently being used with incarcerated women to help them envision an improved life upon their release.
